Water shortage leaves Beirutis fuming

The lack of rain this winter has caused water shortages to the residents of Beirut. Residents are resorting to private water networks. Water suppliers are digging deeper wells which are technically illegal to compensate for the short supply.

Artificial Pond in Ehden

The Green Project will be building an artificial pond in Ehden with the aim to harvest rainwater. The pond will be able to accommodate 24,000 cubic meters of water which will be mostly used for irrigation purposes and fighting fires.

Mapping the nation’s ‘fascinating mosaic’ of flora

An online database of local plants of Lebanon was launched this week under the name of Lebanon Flora. Funded by UNESCO the website includes high resolution photos and extensive taxonomic information about Lebanon’s flower species.
